Lamonthe, Fritz

Born in 1933 in Port-au-Prince. After finishing school he enlisted in the Haitian Air Force, where he trained as an airline mechanic. He left the Air Force in 1955 for public administration. He started visiting galleries and meeting the artists, becoming friends with many of them. This is when he began his own career in painting. He paints Haitians busy at their work along the shore or at the village cross roads.
