About the Artist
POLYCARPE, JEROME
Jerome Polycarpe – was born on November 6, 1950, in Port-au-Prince. Prior to taking up painting he was a professor of Mathematics from 1971 to 1973. His first two paintings were selected by Jean Marie Drot and Andre Malraux for two exhibitions in Paris and Auxerre. Polycarpe is today famous for his jungle scenes in vibrant colours. His paintings were auctioned at Parke Bernet in New York in 1975. They are sold in galleries in France, Germany, Italy, the United States, and the Caribbean. He appears in Max Fourny’s two books, “La Fete et les Naifs” and “Le Reve et les Naifs”.
