1917-1992

Born in Bainet, west of Jacmel. He was a cobbler and tailor, but he also painted village scenes and characters on rocks from the Bay of Bainet shoreline. He was introduced to Le Centre D’Art in 1954 by Micius Stephane. Edger was known as the “Master of Twilight” for his exploration of the effects of the shifting sun on the color of the sky, clouds, and landscape. In the late 1980’s he was forced to stop painting due to the onset of glaucoma and eventual loss of his vision. His works are included in the permanent collections of the Musee d’Art du College Saint Pierre in Port-au-Prince and the Yale University Art Gallery.
