About the Artist
1894-1948 Born in Saint-Marc, he was considered as the “Grand Maitre of Haitian Art”. Hyppolite, a prolific painter, depicted voodoo scenes, still life, religion and everyday life. He was featured in the 1947 UNESCO international exhibition in Paris which brought about a global interest in modern Haitian art.
