About the Artist
Jean-Baptiste Jean (1953-2002)
Born in Cap-Haitien he first studied with Philome’ Obin and two years later he went to study in Port-au-Prince. He returned to Cap Haitien where he continued to paint until his untimely death in the spring of 2002. He is noted for his scenes of everday life and special occasions in Cap Haitian.
